Are vintage instruments serviced before a sale?

Each instrument is personally inspected and play-tested by Max. The individual listing will explain its mechanical condition, any service or restoration completed by Maximum Winds, and any work that may still be recommended. An instrument will only be described as “serviced” or “restored” when that work has actually been completed.
Can I play-test an instrument?

Yes. Local play-tests are available by appointment in Los Angeles.
Do you ship vintage instruments?

No. Due to the delicate nature of vintage instruments, we prefer to arrange local pickup in Los Angeles.
Are mouthpieces returnable?

For sanitary reasons, mouthpieces that have been played or show evidence of use are subject to a cleaning and restocking fee. Unused mouthpieces may be returned within 30 days in their original condition and packaging. Any product-specific exception will be stated in the listing.
Can Maximum Winds fabricate a custom part?

Maximum Winds accepts select requests for custom parts, replacement components, ergonomic modifications, and engraving. Submit a custom-work request with the instrument’s manufacturer and model, photographs, measurements if known, and a description of what you need.
How long does custom work take?

Turnaround depends on the project’s complexity, material availability, and current workload. Max will provide an estimated timeline before the order is approved. Estimates may change if the project’s requirements change during development.
